Be sure to: 1. State your book title and the name of the main character you're discussing. 2. Cite three pieces of evidence in paragraph form about dialogue/response to trouble that tell you more about the character. Here is a model journal entry from last night's entry. Look at the detail, evidence, & thinking this reader put into it: In my book Spy Camp I have picked the main character Erica Hale. The trait that my character is displaying right now is that she is very independent. My first indication that she is independent is that on p.12 it says, Erica spent more time working on self-preservation than she did sleeping. She was practicing taking out terrorists with hostages from three hundred yards away. With a crossbow.➡️ that she has no time to hang out which means she is usually alone working on her genius. My second piece of evidence is that on p.13 it says, Catching Erica off guard was like sing a solar eclipse: it didn't happen often, and you had to savor the rare occasions when it did.➡️ that she is very aware of her surroundings so when she is professional spy, no one can attack her and having eyes on the back of your head is pretty hard to achieve. My third piece of proof on p.11 it states, Erica was easily the most competent, savviest spy-to-be at the academy, in addition to being the most beautiful girl I have ever met.➡️this makes me think Erica pays attention in class, studies hard, and always embraces her GIRL POWER! My last piece of verification is that on p.12 it says, As I Approached Erica, my fellow students looked at me Writing: Decorate your writer's workshop composition book cover with small moments/things that inspire you as an author by Monday.
